Barney rubble

Roaming around Unbridled Spirits since February of 2017, Barney is a one-of-a-kind horse who knows the voice of his sponsors, and comes to meet his supporters, if his face isn’t buried in his morning supper.

The Kentucky-bred, chestnut gelding enjoys his treats, and loves being petted on and talked to, while relishing human company. He’s an amazing animal to be around. He co-manages one of our herds with the mare Nagahyde.

Barney came to our sanctuary, after being retired with dignity by owner Lance Beaulieu from his job as a successful hunter/jumper.

Prior to his secondary career, Barney had a brief time on the track (his Jockey Club or racing name was Señor Bensalem), earning a trip to the winner’s circle in nine lifetime starts.

Barney is faithfully supported each month by Karen Knoke, and Tori, Roxanne and Mitch Stielow, to whom we are extremely grateful!
