Ellie

Rescued from a Texas kill pen, which had her ticketed for the slaughterhouse, Ellie arrived at Unbridled Spirits in November of 2023 with her sister, Mia. Despite being a year older, Ellie is the more cautious of the two, relying on her little sis to try new things first.

Gradually, though, Ellie started to become more trusting of the sanctuary’s staff and has settled in quite nicely. Both she and Mia eventually attracted the attention of resident mare Rock My Socks (pictured below with Ellie), the protective “mother hen” to the newcomers, who are small in stature for Thoroughbreds due to their traumatic upbringings.
