The Kentucky-bred gelding arrived at Unbridled in February of 2017, and is one of the two recognizable grays at the sanctuary.

Howie raced until he was 7 years old, finishing with two wins in 27 starts, and over $74,000 in career earnings.

He can be a bit of a curmudgeon when he's turned out with the herd. Howie really perks up, however, when he has his “alone time” with his pasture pal, resident mare To Be Famous. Together they’ve become quite the happy couple.

Howie is a very good boy when he's being brushed, trimmed by our farrier, or under saddle. He is faithfully sponsored by our dear friend and supporter, Vickie Nitschke (pictured).
