Mishegas

This Kentucky-bred gelding is one of our more recognizable equines, from a video of him snoring that went viral. The popular footage of him snoozing next to Melissa (pictured left), one of our volunteers, can be seen on our Facebook, X, and Instagram pages.

Mishegas arrived at Unbridled in October of 2021, thanks to our dear friends at Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare, who provided the first step in his dignified retirement.

During his racing career, Mishegas won 12 races (two graded stakes) from 40 starts, earning over $386,000. His track days started in California, and finished as he hop-scotched between Florida and Puerto Rico.

Mishegas, who is graciously sponsored by Gabrielle Zahradnik, is a favorite at our sanctuary with his wonderful personality and boy-like curiosity when wandering around the barn, while the staff mucks stalls. He’s also very easygoing and loves attention, but isn’t pushy — a true joy to be around. Mishegas hangs out with Hawk Is Ready, Nagahyde and Seattle Surprise.
